  • Public Consultation Specialist: H2Safety Services Inc. is looking for a Public Consultation Specialist to join our team. The role consists of that traveling to remote locations to ground truth and GPS roads and surface developments (residences, businesses, public facilities, trapper cabins, public recreation areas, etc.), contact residences to explain the hazards associated with nearby oil and gas operations and to gather their contact information for emergency response purposes. This position requires significant travel within Western Canada and the candidate can expect that they will be out of town for significant periods of time with approximately 75% of their time spent in the field and 25% spent in the office.     Responsibilities:

    • In coordination with the Operations team, create detailed client budgets, quotes & invoices.
    • Accurately submit client invoices using various web-based systems such as Cortex, Ariba and Open Invoice.
    • Gather, input and analyze financial data; input data into various spreadsheets and Project Database (MS Excel and MS Access).
    • Participate in the preparation of the annual revenue and expense budgets and periodic forecast updates throughout the fiscal year.
    • Assist in profitability analysis and provide insights into the profitability of all segments of our business.
    • Support the preparation and maintenance of financial metrics required to monitor results against performance targets
    • Assist with the development / completion of Requests for Proposal (RFPs).
    • Process accounts payables / receivables; assist with collections when required.
    • Any other support required by the Financial Lead.

    Qualifications

    • A Business Degree or professional accounting designation.
    • 5 years of related experience.
    • Ability to translate financial data into meaningful information through use of statistical analysis and techniques.
    • Ability to communicate effectively at a professional level, including reading, written and verbal, within all levels of organizations.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to prioritize workload and work accurately under the pressure of multiple deadlines and changing priorities.
    • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment.
    • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and ability to react to project adjustments promptly and efficiently.
    • Advanced skills in MS Excel; proficient in all other MS office applications includes Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access.

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct gap analyses on client’s Emergency Response Management Programs based on applicable regulations and identifies program deficiencies.
    • Work with each client to develop and maintain their Emergency Response Management Program to meet regulatory requirements and client standards while staying within the client’s budget.
    • Provide expertise and support to clients in regards to the impact of existing and new regulations on their Emergency Response Management Program.
    • Determine the scope of work of each project and work with the Finance Department to develop budgets, quotes and invoices.
    • Conduct external kickoff meetings with clients either in person or over the phone.
    • Manage the creation and maintenance of Emergency Response Plans. This includes managing a project team consisting of members from various internal company departments (Engineering, GIS, IT, Public Involvement, Training, Printing, Admin, etc.).
    • Manage and develop a small team of direct reports on a day to day basis.
    • Provide regular status updates to and have regular meetings with clients.
    • Plan and schedule project timelines, milestones and resources using the appropriate tools and methods.
    • Aggressively manage project timelines to ensure regulatory and client deadlines are met.
    • Conduct demos of H2Safety software for clients and other interested parties.
    • May be required to conduct training sessions, assist with resident contacts or fill in anywhere else additional resources or support might be required to complete a project.
    • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.
    • Identify and successfully resolve issues and conflicts that develop on the project.
    • Build, develop, and grows any business relationships vital to the success of the project.

    Qualifications

    • Project management experience (3+ years).
    • University degree or equivalent.
    • High level of initiative and self-motivation.
    • Able to prioritize work and work accurately under the pressure of multiple deadlines with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
    • Strong time management and organizational skills.
    • Willing to put in extra time if required to meet client expectations and deadlines.
    • Skilled at establishing rapport and building strong relationships with clients.
    • Able to travel to the field as needed for kickoff meetings, training, etc.
    • Be able to work flexibly and deal with change.
    • Able to work independently and use analytical and decision-making skills to offer solutions and resolve problems in a variety of contexts.
    • Able to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and staff.
    • Able to adapt to various communications styles of team members and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines.
    • Strong customer service skills.
    • Ability to communicate effectively at a professional level, including reading, writing and presentation skills.
    • Strong computer skills.
    • An understanding of emergency response plans is an asset but not a requirement.

    Responsibilities:

    • Coordinates with the Project Manager and the client to identify training requirements and objectives.
    • Develops training exercises that meet the client’s, the Project Manager’s and the regulatory agency’s requirements, objectives and standards while adhering to the allotted budget.
    • Submits exercise notifications to the appropriate regulatory agencies when required.
    • Coordinates the logistics of and makes travel arrangements for training exercises.

    Responsibilities:

    • Creates new and updates existing documents in Microsoft Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, Visio and Excel.
    • Verifies emergency phone numbers and contact information.
    • Completes research as required to ensure that Emergency Response Plans contain accurate and up-to-date contact information, procedures and regulatory requirements.
    • Verifies and updates information within internal Microsoft Access databases.
    • Prepares, merges and sends letters.
    • Liaises with other internal company departments including our GIS, Public Awareness, Engineering, Printing, Administrative, Training, etc. departments.
    • Oversees quality of own work and work completed by other staff and other departments on own projects.
    • Compiles edits from the client, edits from the Project Managers as well as all inputs from other departments into the final product.
    • Provides status updates on own projects during team meetings.
    • Provides support as required to Project Managers, project team and clients.

    Qualifications

    • Experience that demonstrates a very strong attention to detail.
    • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications (Publisher, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
    • Post-secondary education.
    • High level of initiative and self-motivation.
    • Able to prioritize work and work accurately under the pressure of multiple deadlines with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
    • Strong time management and organizational skills.
