| Hours: Office Day: 8 hrs. Field Day: 12 hrs. Additional time may be required based
on workload. Some weekend work is required.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. University degree or college diploma is ideal.
Physical Requirements: Travel long distances. Away for extended periods of time. Walking short distances. Packaged boxes may reach 50 lbs. Use of field equipment (Quads).
Skills / Experience Required: As a minimum, a Level 1 Public Awareness Specialist must have basic oil and gas knowledge, great verbal communications skills and computer skills. A verbal communication testing exam may be administered during the selection process. Must have excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently.
Software Programs: Office (Word, Access, Outlook, Excel), Adobe (Illustrator), Other (ArcGIS, WinRar, WinZip, Ozi-Explorer).
Job Summary: - Under the direction of a Project Manager (PM), a Public Awareness Specialist (PAS) organizes all activities involved in the development of new and existing public consultation programs.
- Public Consultants are involved in the project from beginning to end and are responsible for a wide variety of tasks.
- In the beginning of a project a Public Consultant may participate in project planning specific to the public consultation program.
- Once the timeline is determined, a Public Awareness Specialist compiles any information provided by the Project Manager and existing documents to assist in completing the public consultation program effectively.
- Some duties are required throughout the life of a project; these include but are not limited to filing, answering resident phone calls / making phone calls, creating letters, folding pamphlets / maps, etc.
- As Public Awareness Specialist gain experience they are able to coordinate with the other departments at H2Safety including the GIS Department to ensure maps are created / updated, the ERP Techs to organize information acquired during the public consultation program, and the Administrative Department to coordinate field surveys.
- Once a Public Awareness Specialist has a firm understanding of their role, they may branch out into other areas including the GIS Department, development of new products related to field improvements, development of new procedures / training of new staff, management of simple Drilling and Completions ERP’s, etc.
