Hours: 40 hours per week. Additional time may be required based on workload.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. University degree or college diploma is ideal.
Physical Requirements: Sitting for extended periods. Packaged boxes may reach 50 lbs.
Skills / Experience Required: Very strong Microsoft Word skills. A skill testing exam may be adminstered during the selection process. Must have excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently. Previous office experience is an asset.
Software Programs: Office (Word, Visio, Access, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe (Illustrator, Acrobat, Photoshop), Other (ArcGIS, WinRar, WinZip, Macromedia Dreamweaver).
Job Summary: - Under the direction of a Project Manager (PM), an ERP Research Technician (ERP Tech) organizes all activities involved in the development of new and update of existing Emergency Response Plans (ERPs).
- ERP Techs are involved in the project from beginning to end and are responsible for a wide variety of tasks.
- In the beginning of a project an ERP Tech may participate in project planning / development.
- Once the project is underway, an ERP Tech compiles the information provided by the client and the Project Manager and updates existing documents or builds new documents as required.
- Some administrative duties are required throughout the life of a project; these include but are not limited to filing, answering phones / making phone calls, creating letters, folding pamphlets / maps, etc.
- As ERP Techs gain experience they are able to coordinate with the other departments at H2Safety including the GIS Department to ensure maps are created / updated, the Copying Department to organize the printing and assembly of ERPs, and the Administrative Department to coordinate ERP Distribution.
- Once an ERP Tech has a firm understanding of their role, they may branch out into other areas including template development, development of new products, development of new procedures / training of new staff, mapping using ArcGIS, website maintenance using Macromedia Dreamweaver, etc.
